A Bit About ME

I am a junior at University of South Alabama. I transferred to South Alabama from Bishop State Community College, College of Business. I chose to pursue a degree in Elementary Ed because every important career in the United States is began in an Elementary Ed classroom. I find joy in effectively teaching because it gives me proud to know that I had a part in child's learning. Being an excellent mother is not easy and I am raising my children very well. I know I will be a great teacher as I am mother.

I graduate from South Alabama in May 2010. I plan to reside in Northern Alabama or Northern Georgia. I want to work in inner city schools because they are known for having low achievement scores and I am up for the challenge. I believe every child can learn with the understanding of each individually child.

Computer Technology as A Teaching Tool

As a future prospective teacher, I plan to implement as many new computer technologies I have recently been introduced to in these past few months. I believe that they will be very helpful teaching tools to my classroom’s curriculum. I will use blogs in my classroom as an extensive communication tool. It will allow my students to view assignments, the school activity schedule, and communicate with their classmates and me outside of the school.

Students can also utilize Power Point and Excel for the needed expression of relating learned information to their teachers. It will also extend creative of ideas and organization skills needed to succeed in any of their endeavors. These days, it is hard to get employed without basic computer knowledge. I want my students to be well acquite at a young age for the world that awaits them. Click here to learn about other teaching tools such as ACCESS and ALEX.

Blogs

Blogs are becoming more and more popular. Blogs are like mini websites used as personal journals or informational pages that individuals all over the world can view and comment. I would love for my students to create a personal one for my classroom. To protect their privacy I would put a block on their pages so that only school officials, students, and parents to view their work. My students could enhance their writing and typing skills by simply engaging in blogging. I could have my students submit daily posts about their day at school or a dream or goal they are closer to accomplishing. I could post their homework assignments and even upcoming projects! Blogging would essential to my classroom.

There were many examples of blogs being utilized in the classrooms of K-12 schools in the United States. Blogs were used as virtal realities, information page and as communication. Some were outstanding. I want to use them as a paperless journal to keep on file. Blogs seem to be used in any kind of way to be display. To create a free blog of your own CLICK HERE!

Pod casts

Pod casts are visual and audio recordings on a particular topic or subject. This will provide the students with additional information on various subjects they learned in the classroom. If they need to view a speaker, they can view a speaker with audio. Pod casts will allow students to produce some of their own works and projects. They can display them on the web for the world to see. Pod casts are just another creative way to integrate computer technology into your curriculum.

Pod casts could be used as a tutoring tool. If a student needs a different interpretation of a topic discussed in class or extra lecture, pod casts could provide them with the extra feedback they may need. The website Google is a great resourceful tool for any student. It is a free web tool that could assist a student in any field of study. Google also provides tools within the website to allow a student to be creative while practicing with computer technology. Click the microphone to listen and/or view some podcasts on iTune.

Google Tools

The greatest thing about Google Tools is that these are web tools that are free. These tools are helpful for the students’ research or school projects as well. Students can surf the web for whatever they need. Students can create their own blogs and slide shows. There are many tools under Google that my students should really enjoy. I had a blast developing a customize igoole page for my future students.
I used many of the google tools to complete projects this semster. I had a slight difficult problem with the spreadsheets. I could not figure out the formula until somebody's told me it. We also used google docs for many assignments. The only down fall about google tools is it can more so slow.

No “Burpback” Education!

Education use to be just books and pencils; times are changing and becoming more high tech. I want my students to know and understand that all knowledge does not have to come from books but from visual webs and experiences. Computer knowledge is the new millennum. We must teach our students to be critical thinkers and not opinionated.

We must emphasis that the sky is the limit. "They must do what they have to, to get what they want." Education is the door way to freedom and computers are showing us the way. Out with the old and in with the "NEW"! I allow my dauhgter to get as much computer exposure as problem with blockage of course. I allow her to practice on her keys so that she can type 65wpm.
